Money Talks

Good Afternoon!

Now nobody likes to talk about bills but unfortunately it's an evil force that will never go away (unless you win the lotto!)

{image}

So today I wanted to share a tip with you that has simplified our bill paying at home. Unfortunately I can't take credit for this, one of my girlfriend's does this method and swears by it, so I thought I give it a go.  It's one of those things that is so obvious when it's suggested LOL!

Now I'm not the world's best budgeter, in fact we dont even have one.....so not good I know!

What's the secret?!

You pay each bill weekly, yep it's that simple!  I've been doing it for a couple of months now and find it just so easy.

So take a monthly bill and divide it by four, eg if your Telstra account is $50 per month it will then be $12.50 per week.  Then go to your online banking and set them up as scheduled payments out of your account and voila it's done!  Couldn't be more simple. No more stressing about whene the money is coming from to pay the bills!

Plus I've discovered loads of iPhone Apps that assist you with budgeting and bills payments.  I recently downloaded the free version of the Bills Monitor.

I haven't had a chance to have a play and set it all up, but I love the functions that it has, there is even a pie graph to show how you are spending your money! Groovy hey?!

There are so many ways to budget to pay bills, this method is what has worked for me but I'd love to hear how you go about the dreaded job!

10 Things That Make Me Tick

Hello Everyone!

Hope you are having a wonderful Monday so far, simply gorgeous on the Gold Coast today. Sun is shining, breeze is gently blowing and washing in on the line!

To get to know me a little better I thought I'd tell you 10 things about me, things that make me me!

Righto let's get started;

1.  First cab off the rank, I'm a Mum and a Wife and I love my boys to bits!
I know a lot of you have younger children, but I'm restarting the whole learning journey again with a 13 year old boy!!

2.  I'm a Virgo, neat freak and super organised!
I don't function well if my home is a mess and everything is not in it's place, but Hubby is an Aquarian and I swear he is worse than me!

3.  Due to point number 2 I was elected as Club Secretary for our son's baseball team without even being nominated! What the?!!

4.  Our entire weekends are taken up with baseball, my son has been playing since he was 5.  Now my Hubby is an Umpire and along with Club Secretary I also Score the games, which literally brought me to tears as a beginer, it's bloody hard......drinks on a Saturday evening are always well deserved.

5.  I hated Maths and Accounting at school and to be perfectly honest was terrible at them both.  Now I do Book Keeping two days a week, who knew?!

6.  I'm one of the most emotional people you will ever meet!  Will cry at the drop of a hat, but when I get angry I still cry.  I dont get that...

7. We love cooking as a family and talking about recipies and getting inspired watching cooking shows and flipping through Donna Hay Magazine.

8.  I'm a generally quite person but cross my boudaries and whoa you better look out!

9.  I don't hold grudges or anger, it's not healthy and doesn't get you anywhere.

10.  I started with my boys as number 1 and I will end with equally important number 10; my family and close friends.  I'm very blessed to have amazing family and equally with my friends.  My friendship circle is small but very close, and for that I am thankful.

Ok so that is a little bit more about me, I'd love to hear from with just one thing that make's you, YOU!

Piquing my Pinterest {candle edition}

Hello!

Now you will soon discover my LOVE of Pinterest, you can follow me here, so it's exciting to start linking up with Tina Gray {dot} me each week for Ooh, that's Pinterest...ing!

What you will also learn about me is my LOVE of candles, I love them a LOT and I mean a LOT!! So this weeks it's all about candles!

Candles are an inexpensive item (although you can spend a lot on them!) that add mood and feeling to any room. So lets begin....

I love the use of the mass of small jars in a larger lantern.

Pretty sexy isn't it?!

Great use of mass tealights for a dinner party.

These are recycled jars, just collect them as you go, and add candles.  Very inexpensive but very effective.

Current trend is long tapered candles.

Got an old birdcage?! Simply add candles...gorgeous!

All images are from my candle magic board on Pinterest.

Now because I'm talking candles it would be very remiss of me not to mention Renee from Dotti Candles.  We recently had a chance to meet and I receieved a gorgeous candle as a gift from Renee.  If you are looking for quality hand made candles then Renee is your go to girl!

A candle from the Dotti Candles range.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

About Me!

Hello and Welcome to Uber Simplicity!

Well this is a little exciting my first blog on Uber Simplicity!!

Firstly this is what I look like, so you can put a face to the name!

I'm a sucker for black and white pics!

Righto so how did I get to blogging?!  Well I shall break it down, you dont need the long and gory details....I'd been a Medical Secretary and PA for over 13 years but always had a burning desire to own our cafe, so Hubby and I ventured into a franchise cafe (I have one word, hang on no maybe three for you DON'T DO IT!!).

So after three long years in the business not enjoying it at all, we got out and that day couldn't come quick enough.  The day we handed over the keys was 17th November 2010, nearly twelve months ago now.  And our life is so much better for it!

What I learnt during that time is that I craved the simplicity of life, it was the simple things that I longed and craved for like just sitting as a family in the evening and not worrying if staff would turn up and if I'd forgotten paperwork to head office!

To say I was an emotional wreck after this experience was an understatement!  So I was forced to take time out for myself.

It was then that I realised I had NO idea what I wanted to do with my life! I felt like I'd just finished school and had no sense of where life was taking me.  I'd always had an interest in interior design and my girlfriends were pushing me to a career in this but I knew that ultimately I didn't want to go down that path, I love designing and decorating my own home but that's about it!

Another thing I love to do is organising and decorating events, a passion that I wanted to pursue, so in November last year Poppie Lane Emporium was born.  Thinking this is what I wanted to do I passionately become part of the 'party industry'.

I was happily going down this road, then all of sudden I was like 'hang on this isn't making me happy'.  So I took a hiatus from party planning and again took time for myself.  It was during this time that I began reading so many inspirational blogs on so many different subjects, and I felt that I had something to contribute to the blogging world.

So here I am!

My event styling business is undergoing a name change and I will simply be selling party goodies for people to style their own parties, I will no longer be offereing styling services.

That's a little about me and how I ended up to where I am today, and I'm happy!

I hope you enjoy the blog and I look forward to meeting you all, so introduce yourself and let me know about your blog!

Cheers
