orange & teal

Imagine my surprise when I started thinking my lounge and dining room needed a splash of colour?!

Who would have thought given that I'm a very neutral kind of girl.  And the two colours jumping out at me?  Teal and orange.

I know, I'm as shocked as you are believe me!

The meaning of colour is fascinating so I just had to do a little research into these two colours before I make any changes.

Orange is a very "love it" or "hate it" kind of colour.  There really is no middle ground with this one.  Orange is very closely related to red and is flamboyant and fun, radiates warmth and energy.  Now I'd say I'm fun but flamboyant, not even close.

It's the colour of social communication, creates activity and scarily stimulates your appetite!

Teal (apparently a more sophisticated colour of turquoise) represents trustworthiness, reliability, spiritual advancement and commitment.


I won't be going all out with the colours, using it only as an accent.  Changing things like cushions, throws, vases and prints.  Looking forward to giving my canvases a little revamp, about time really.

Can't wait to inject some life and colour into our home.  I'll keep you posted.
